LitFest 2026: a celebration of reading, creativity and imagination

West Kirby School & College was transformed into a world of stories, adventure and creativity as pupils took part in LitFest 2026, a special day dedicated to celebrating the joy of reading and the power of imagination.

We were delighted to welcome pupils from Acre View School, our brother school, who joined us for this year's event. It was wonderful to share the experience together and see pupils from both schools enjoying the wide range of activities on offer.

Throughout the day, pupils explored storytelling, poetry and creative expression. From meeting visiting authors in Tales from the Tent to performing their own work on the Poetry Emerald Stage, pupils embraced opportunities to develop confidence, share ideas and celebrate their creativity.

One of the highlights of the day was the Unicorn Encounter, where pupils met the magnificent Pegasus and enjoyed capturing memorable photographs. The Forbidden Creatures experience also proved popular, introducing pupils to a variety of fascinating animals and encouraging curiosity about the natural world.

In the Wizarding Quarter, pupils enjoyed potion-making activities, magical drinks and fantasy-inspired crafts, while The Strategium challenged pupils to develop problem-solving and teamwork skills through strategy games inspired by fantasy adventures.

A huge thank you goes to all the authors, readers, performers and visitors who shared their time, knowledge and enthusiasm with our pupils. Their passion for books, storytelling and creativity helped make the day a truly memorable experience.

LitFest 2026 was a fantastic celebration of literacy, imagination and learning. Most importantly, it reminded us that books can open doors to new worlds, inspire new ideas and help every child discover their own voice and creativity.
