Discovery Day: exploring space at WKS

Our Discovery Day was full of curiosity, creativity and out-of-this-world learning. Pupils explored the wonders of space through a wide range of activities, from building balloon and bottle rockets to solving space puzzles, writing rocket poems and designing their own space-themed theme parks.

Pupils investigated the Space Race and the Cold War, explored the question of who owns space, and debated whether governments should spend money searching for alien life. They also considered what it takes to train for a space mission, developing their knowledge while asking big questions about our place in the universe.

Throughout the day, pupils explored space through science, reading, writing, problem-solving and teamwork. They had opportunities to experiment, share ideas, think critically and approach familiar subjects in new ways.

Discovery Day encouraged pupils to be curious, creative and enterprising, showing how learning can inspire us to ask questions and look beyond the classroom.

Who knows where their curiosity will take them next...
