World Mental Health Day: celebrating personal development and wellbeing at WKS
West Kirby School & College marked World Mental Health Day in October with a full morning of activities focused on wellbeing, positivity, and personal growth.
The day began with an inspiring assembly with a presentation on managing overwhelm. Pupils were encouraged to reflect on their own strengths, resilience, and the power of perseverance, a message that resonated throughout our school community.
Following the assembly, pupils took part in a fun treasure hunt around school, designed to get everyone moving, connecting and smiling. The morning ended creatively with a poster design competition, where pupils expressed what mental health and feeling good means to them. The top three designs were displayed around school, while other contributions will add colourful “leaves” to our brand-new Wellbeing Tree, a visual celebration of uplifting words and positivity that will continue to grow throughout the year.
World Mental Health Day was another wonderful reminder that wellbeing sits at the heart of everything we do at WKS, helping pupils to feel valued, supported and ready to thrive. All these activities were led by Ms Kirkham, Mental Health Champion, part of our Pastoral Care Team.
