Coffee mornings

Parent Coffee Mornings

Our WKS Parent Support Group takes place termly.

Welcome Coffee Morning

We hold a Welcome Coffee Morning each term for those parents and carers new to the school. We share information about the induction period, induction review and hope to provide an opportunity for you to both meet other parents in a similar situation and also understanding how things work in the school.

WKS Coffee Morning

This is Coffee Morning open to all parents and carers and close relatives involved with your child. Whether your child is new to the school or has been attending for some time, we welcome you to join us. We aim to invite a guest speaker along to share insight into understanding your child or information about a useful service to support you as a parent.

What's the aim of our Coffee Mornings?

The aim of the WKS Coffee Mornings is to create a sense of community and support parents and carers of pupils at the school.

  • Give all parents and carers the opportunity to meet with each other and feel supported between each other. Parents have told us that it’s difficult to get to know each other when you don’t meet up after school to collect children.
  • The group can be an opportunity to network and share information about your local community e.g. clubs, activities or any deals that are on offer.
  • They are organised by school staff which also gives us the opportunity to share information that is available in school. We try to discuss topics that are important to you. In the past we have discussed parent views around transition; future aspirations; life skills, careers or college; and EHCPs. Sometimes we have guest speakers or organise social events which are just a good chance to relax, chat and have fun!

Although WKS can be a long way for people to come, we do have parents and carers who travel from Cheshire, Shropshire, Wales, Liverpool and Wirral. It’s ok if you can only pop in to join us for some of the time or if you need to arrive late/leave early.

Here is a comment from a parent who's come along.

“In my experience, having a child with different needs can make you feel isolated and a bit detached, especially if your child does not attend your local school. WKS run a Support Group in the school once a term which is very relaxed and informal.  It’s an opportunity to listen to invited speakers, chat with other parents, share experiences and relax in the knowledge that we all share similar challenges. So if you are a parent, grandparent or carer, why not come along and see for yourself.”

Please email Rachel Kelleher, rkelleher@wkrs.co.uk if you'd like to join us
