Enterprise

At West Kirby School and College, Be Enterprising is one of our school values.

We develop 'Enterprise' at all ages and throughout all classes, giving students the unique opportunity to develop life skills, understand the costs and benefits of risk taking, communication skills and the importance of collaboration. The role of education is to prepare students for the future, and these are the skills the future will need.

An entrepreneurial approach to learning is motivating for students, developing their self-esteem and a sense of purpose, and equips them with life skills that help them to become more positive contributors to society. Simply using the language of enterprise can benefit the aspirations of students

Key Enterprise events and projects are:

Our Enterprise Markets involve each class developing their own Enterprise business projects, such as candle making, t-shirt making, horticulture, craft, art related or something unique like car or shoe cleaning services. It culminates in a fantastic Enterprise Market, open to families and community. 

The aim is for pupils to develop entrepeneurship skills, creativity, costing, production and marketing, developing functional life skills. Also invaluable in developing team work, initiative, self esteem, resilience, ICT, Art and Craft, Horticulture, DT skills and a sense of achievement. We're proud to see our pupils work as teams, developing different roles such as poster production, website creation and selling on the day.
