Following the changing information shared with the public on Monday with regards to Covid-19 ('Corona Virus'), I am writing to update you on the situation for WKS.
Whilst the government has made an ongoing commitment to keep schools open they have advised everyone to avoid social situations as much as possible. To try to minimise social interactions, we are strictly limiting visits to school wherever possible. This includes working with our directors and governors, taxi drivers and pupil escorts, representatives from the Local Authority, parents, carers and relatives to try to reduce meetings and visits.
The current guidance is now that if one person in any household has a new, persistent cough or a temperature above 37.8c, then everyone living within that household must stay at home for 14 days. The advice continues to suggest that those people should, if possible, avoid leaving the house "even to buy food or essentials" but they may leave the house "for exercise and, in that case, at a safe distance from others".
Over the coming days and weeks, we will inevitably have pupils and staff who are self-isolating as per the guidance. We have robust procedures in place to minimise disruption to our pupils and their families. There will be times when we are able to manage and there may be times when we are struggling. At all times we will endeavour to keep you informed and to support you as best we can.
These are uncertain times. As a school we pride ourselves on the support we receive from parents and carers and how we work together effectively. I know you will work with us and I thank you for this.
