Yvonne Blackledge -
Head of Care
Married
and living on the Wirral, Yvonne admits her hobbies and interests are
walking, reading, visiting the theatre, studying foreign languages,
gardening, pottery, shopping and travelling.
Yvonne has worked at the school as a Senior Residential Social Worker
for many years. In 1997 she was appointed to the post of Head of Care
and has throughout the period worked closely with the Principal and the
Senior Management Team in leading the school and the Childcare
Department through major changes and ensuring a high quality service is
provided.
She has high standards of personal integrity and respect for others.
Yvonne has completed Management Courses in Childcare and is currently
waiting to enrol on the new Registered Managers Award for Children and
Young People, which, at the earliest, could be up, and running in
September 2004.
As the joint Child Protection Co-ordinator at West Kirby Residential
School a large part of her role is to ensure that the school is best
placed to safeguard the welfare of children and this must be done
through partnership and forging close links with parents/carers and
health, education and social service professionals.
Boarding offers many advantages to the residential pupils and Yvonne is
a keen advocate of developing young peoples potential and lists
communication and actually connecting with children and young people as
a top priority for all. Part of her philosophy is about maintaining and
raising standards, providing a caring and structured environment and
building on traditional values as well as contemporary ones, therefore
being aware of modern trends. A committed childcare team work hard to
enable each child to do their best.
Yvonne feels it is her privilege to work with such warm, enthusiastic
and dedicated staff teams who have always looked to raise the
aspirations of young people.
West Kirby Residential School
is an exciting place to be in. There is a real sense of family.
