Residential Provision
Staff at WKRS
know how precious your children are to you, and are
always around to support and encourage them to
develop new skills, deal with difficulties, have fun
and feel happy in their surroundings. As a parent,
it is vital for you to feel reassured and confident
that your child is being well looked after whilst
they are here. “Every Child Matters” is at the heart
of everything we do.
Two
residential groups for between 6-8 Young People are
located above the main school buildings. Each group
has a homely, well-equipped, spacious common room or
recreation area, a television lounge and kitchen.
All groups have computer facilities to support
studies as well as recreational activities. The
bathroom, shower and toilet facilities offer
privacy. Younger children, or those with specific
difficulties, are assisted with personal care needs.
We have waking night staff and staff sleeping in.
We also have
two houses that are next door to each other and
situated three miles from the school. They are well
designed, decorated and furnished to a very high
standard. Three children live in each house, with
two staff on duty to care for them. A member of
staff sleeps in during the night, and is immediately
available for emergencies.
A dedicated
team of experienced and qualified childcare staff
look after the children and Young People. Team
leaders who are responsible to the Head of Care
manage the group/houses.
Each child has
a key worker who is closely involved with planning
their placement needs and communicating with parents
and key professionals. They also explain daily
routines to all the children so that they feel
comfortable and secure, also ensuring children know
who to go to if they have a problem.
