Principal's
Vision
As a Non Maintained
Special School, West Kirby Residential School caters for boys and
girls with a range of complex social, emotional and behavioural
difficulties, often linked with medical conditions such as
Asperger’s Syndrome, learning difficulties and communication
problems.
It is a priority to provide a
structured, supportive and controlled learning environment for each
pupil. By actively encouraging children to develop their inner
control and social skills, staff can help them to overcome their own
individual behavioural difficulties.
Pupils are able to learn and grow in
situations that will help them achieve their maximum potential.
Staff are specially trained to assist pupils in developing an
awareness both of themselves as individuals and within a group,
increasing their respect for others, their self-esteem, emotional
stability and acceptability.
Due to its location to the North West
of the Wirral peninsula, West Kirby is able to offer a wide range of
opportunities for sports, water recreation and natural history.
Liverpool and Chester with their wealth of art, culture and history
are within easy reach. The school is close to the centre of West
Kirby village and is just two hundred yards from the nearest beach.
Young people at WKRS are continually
presented with a wide range of challenges, in education and life
skills, to help nurture their unique talents and prepare them for
adult life.
I am indeed proud to be leading such
a well-resourced and active school, with highly qualified and
committed staff and so many enthusiastic, responsive and successful
pupils. At West Kirby Residential School we take children further
and enjoy their success.
