Ofsted Care Inspection
An unannounced full inspection under the New
National Minimum Standards for Residential Special
Schools, which came into force on 1 September 2011,
took place on 29 September 2011
The Inspector makes judgement on the overall
effectiveness, outcomes for residential pupils,
quality of residential provision and care,
residential pupil’s safety and leadership and
management of the residential provision
Parents and pupils took part in the Ofsted survey so
that they could be involved in voicing an opinion
about the progress, care, safety and wellbeing that
young people received.
‘The overall effectiveness of West Kirby
Residential School is outstanding’.
The key findings
of the residential inspection are as follows:
“The care provision is exceptional and enables
pupils to develop to their full potential. The
school continues to be an example of the very best
residential care…….”
As a whole school we were delighted to receive the
report. The Inspector also wrote to the pupils so
that they also had feedback about the inspection.
