Ofsted Care Inspection

An unannounced full inspection under the New National Minimum Standards for Residential Special Schools, which came into force on 1 September 2011, took place on 29 September 2011

The Inspector makes judgement on the overall effectiveness, outcomes for residential pupils, quality of residential provision and care, residential pupil’s safety and leadership and management of the residential provision

Parents and pupils took part in the Ofsted survey so that they could be involved in voicing an opinion about the progress, care, safety and wellbeing that young people received.

‘The overall effectiveness of West Kirby Residential School is outstanding’.

The key findings of the residential inspection are as follows:

“The care provision is exceptional and enables pupils to develop to their full potential. The school continues to be an example of the very best residential care…….”

As a whole school we were delighted to receive the report. The Inspector also wrote to the pupils so that they also had feedback about the inspection.
