Meet the Governors/Directors

Andrea Duckworth - Parent/Governor

I have a son in Year 10 at the School whose place is funded by Cheshire Education Authority. I am married and also have a daughter, who started high school last September. I work part-time for a charity.

I recently became a Parent Governor at West Kirby Residential School. I am here to support you and your child throughout their time at West Kirby Residential School. Please feel free to ask any questions and I will do my best to help. Dee Counsell - Parent/Governor

I am married and have two sons, one of whom, Ben, attends West Kirby Residential School. I have lived in West Kirby for 20 years and I have long been aware of the extremely high standards of education and care provided by the school. I have been a Parent Governor since September 2010 and have greatly enjoyed the opportunity to become more involved with this exceptional school.

I began my working life as a scientific researcher and took a career break to bring up my family. In that time I led a home based teaching programme for Ben which hugely developed my knowledge of Autism in particular and special educational needs in general. During that time I also worked as a teaching assistant, mainly supporting children with ASD. In 2009 I qualified as a Primary School Teacher and now work part time in a local primary school. I also visit West Kirby Residential School once a week and take part in lessons, which I hugely enjoy and which gives me an enhanced knowledge of the day to day working of the school. I would be happy to help other parents with any enquiries or questions they have or would like to put to the school.
